Difference Between Apparent and Obvious

The word ‘apparent’ is used in two senses. One is what is ‘clear, visible, plain’.

It is apparent that you have not studied the subject.

It is apparent that he has misled us.

The word is also used in another sense. It means ‘appearing to the senses or mind as distinct from what really is’.

His apparent loyalty deceived a number of people.

Here ‘apparent’ is the opposite of ‘actual, real’.
‘Obvious’ is a Latin word meaning ‘lying in one’s way’.
What is obvious is very clear and is seen at the first sight It is seeing something as clearly as you see something on the road.
