Meaning and origin of Garrison finish
Our Cricket one-day team achieved a number of amazing triumphs at the beginning of this year. When we believed the match was lost, someone unexpectedly pulled off a miraculous feat that helped the team to triumph. This triumph over the odds is known as a "Garrison finish."

It was a Garrison finish. Our team scored three goals in the last two minutes.

The phrase is used in the horse racing field. American jockey Edward H. Garrison, also known by his jockey nickname "Snapper," was well-known in the late 19th century. He was well known for his stunning comeback wins. Garrison always started towards the rear of the pack in whatever race he took part in. Only in the final minutes of the race did he make his move (he accelerated his ride). staying back till the last minute, a come-from-behind victory began to be called `Garrison finish'
