When you claim that the triumph was a "cakewalk," you're implying that it was incredibly simple to get. You didn't have to work too hard to win; you didn't have to put in a lot of effort.

Among Black Americans, the "cakewalk" was a popular type of entertainment. Couples competing in this challenge were required to circle a cake while wearing nice clothing. A reward was given to the duo who completed this assignment in the most elegant manner. The winner would often "take the cake," which was the reward in most instances. Subsequently, a common dancing style came to be known as the "cakewalk."
